If your company has business in the UK with more than 250 employees or more than £44 Million turnover, you are required by law to comply with the requirements of the UK Governments Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme – ESOS phase 3 requirements.

The deadline for ESOS Phase 3 compliance is 5th December 2023.

If you have ISO 50001 energy management system (EMS) covering all your energy for your entire organisation, certified by an accredited certification body, this will count as your ESOS assessment.

 

Otherwise, you must carry out an ESOS Phase 3 assessment.

 

This means carrying out an energy audit on all your UK operations in the UK to,

• Identify all parts of your organisation.

• Identify your total energy consumption.

• Identify your significant energy consumption (at least 90% of your total energy consumption).

• Carry out an audit on all your significant energy consumption and identify energy savings opportunities.

• Get the report reviewed by the lead assessor and signed off by the directors.

• Notify the Environment Agency you have completed your ESOS requirements.
